Sylva's reply to oshomole

Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has described the reported emergence of former Governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva, as the All Progressive Congress gubernatorial candidate in the state as a “huge joke.”
Oshiomhole who is the Chairman of an electoral committee set up by the national leadership of APC to conduct the governorship primaries in Bayelsa State says Sylva is not declared winner of the primaries, hence no Certificate of Return is issued to him.
Speaking to reporters in Benin City, Oshiomhole notes that the purported emergence of Sylva would not alter the rules of the party adding that other aspirants agreed to follow the guidelines released by the national leadership of the party, but Sylva insisted that the primaries should be conducted without accreditation.
The Edo State number one man Stress that Sylva insisted that it was wrong for the national Secretariat to conduct the primaries and that it was the function of the party leadership in the state.

Meanwhile the winner of the All Progressives Congress governorship primaries held on Tuesday in Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva, has dismissed claims by Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, who headed the Electoral Committee, that he (Sylva) disrupted the electoral process and in fact aborted it.

Sylva in a statement says Oshiomhole was evidently biased in favour of one of the aspirants.

He alleged that it was one of the friends of the favoured aspirants that provided the helicopter that brought Oshiomhole to the venue of the primaries.

Sylva says it is unfortunate that people like Adams Oshiomhole, the governor of Edo State and former president of the Nigeria Labour Congress, who pretend to be incorruptible, would conduct himself in the manner in which he did in relation to the Bayelsa State governorship primary.

It was clear that Oshiomhole never wanted to conduct the primary as earliar scheduled.

Wike Might be Spending His Last Days In Office As Governor

The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said Chief Nyesom Wike of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is spending his last days in office as Governor of Rivers State.

The party was reacting to the statement credited to PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, who was quoted as saying about the failure of PDP and INEC counsels to appear before the Rivers State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal on Friday, September 18: “Even if our lawyers and witnesses didn’t appear at the Rivers Tribunal today and the remaining days, it doesn’t stop us PDP from winning at the judgment. But should we fail at judgment, we shall win even above 1.5 million votes in Rivers State re-run Governorship and other elections.”

Ministerial list: Fashola, Fayemi, Ameachi fail security screening

As the Department of State Service, DSS, continues the screening of some ministerial nominees, indications emerged at the weekend that three immediate past governors, Babatunde Fashola, Rotimi Ameachi and Kayode Fayemi, have allegedly failed to pass the President’s anti-corruption test.
The trio worked hard for the former Head of State to emerge the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential flag bearer as well as for him to get elected President and were seen as top contenders for positions in Buhari’s cabinet.
A highly placed security source at the weekend told Nigerian Pilot Sunday that the DSS did not clear three ministerial nominees, who are former governors, based on allegations of corruption brought against them before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offenses Commission, ICPC.
According to the source, the security agency allegedly refused to clear the three former governors based on a series of petitions written against them over allegations bordering on money laundering, fraud and embezzlement.

The source further added that when the three affected former governors appeared before the DSS screening committee, they were confronted with the petitions and other relevant documents attached to the petitions.
The source further added that they have received instructions from the President that any of the nominees with any damaging and fraud related issues should not be cleared by the security agency.

Lagos ban does not affect petroleum tankers – NUPENG

Petrol-Tankers
The National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers NUPENG says petroleum tankers are not affected by the Lagos State Government daytime operational restriction.

Tokunbo Korodo, the South West Chairman of the union, told the Newsmen in Lagos that “the ban had nothing to do with petroleum tankers” stressing that the ban was to reduce incessant accident caused by articulated vehicles on Lagos State roads.

Korodo, states that petroleum tankers were not captured by the law, adding that they could deliver products to any destination any time.

You will agree with me that the state government had on September 6 restricted the movement of heavy duty vehicles within the metropolis to between 9pm and 6am adding that the government’s action followed the recent Ojuelegba trailer accident, which claimed three lives on September 3.

On his part, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Oluseyi Whenu, says the movement of articulated vehicles contravened Section 2 (i) and 2 (ii) of the Traffic Law.

Whenu states that government would henceforth impound vehicles and the owners fined whenever there was a breach of the restriction order.
