Ogun State Government is partnering with the
National Enterprise Development Programme to drive inclusive economic growth
through skills training and development, job creation and wealth generation.
The state Commissioner for Commerce and Industry,
Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, said this in Abeokuta at a three-day awareness creation
and capacity building workshop on Access to Renewable Energy project organised
by the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in collaboration
with the Bank of Industry and the United Nations Development Programme.
According to him, the NEDEP programme would create
3.5 million direct jobs and an estimated five million indirect jobs between
2013 and 2015, adding that it would also focus on skills acquisition,
entrepreneurship training, business and access to finance.
Ashiru pointed out that this was in addition to a
total of 3000 direct and over 30,000 jobs already created in the state through
the Micro Small-scaled Enterprises scheme, a programme of the Ogun state
government and the Bank of Industry.
