The Director-General of the Nigerian Law
School, Prof. Olanrewaju Onadeko, says some lawyers have been caught writing
examination for students in the school.
Onadeko, a Senior Advocate
of Nigeria, disclosed this when he presented the school’s report to the
Annual General Meeting of the Nigerian Bar Association in Port
Harcourt, Rivers State.
Onadeko, who did not state the number of affected lawyers, said the matter had been reported to the NBA.
He urged the association to take action against such lawyers to save legal education in the country.
Rotimi Jacobs (SAN) charged the NBA to address the issue raised by the director-general of the Law School.
Jacobs said those found guilty should be disciplined after due process had been followed to determine their cases.
Jacobs said the issue was serious because of its implications on the future of legal education in the country.
The
outgoing President of the NBA, Augustine Alegeh, said the association
had not received report of such incident in the past two years.
Alegeh, however, said the NBA had a committee to handle the matter on receipt of the report.
