The
House of Representatives Committee on Sports has set up a committee to look
into the petitions by eleven National Sports Federations on their dissolution
by sports minister Solomon Dalung before the end of their tenure.
The
committee is headed by the Deputy Chairman, House of Representatives
Committee on Sports, Anayo Nnebe.
The
sports ministry, the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Directors of Federations and
the Technical Committee of the House of Representatives would be represented in
the panel.
A
statement by Dalung’s media aide, Nneka Anibeze, listed the eleven federations
as aquatics, boxing, cycling, golf, hockey, kick boxing, kung fu, rowing,
sailing and yachting, scrabble, shooting and rugby.
Dalung
appealed to the House Committee to be served copies of the petitions before
summoning him to appear for defence.
