Reps investigate dissolution of 11 sports federations

The House of Representatives Committee on Sports has set up a committee to look into the petitions by eleven National Sports Federations on their dissolution by sports minister Solomon Dalung before the end of their tenure.

The committee is headed by the Deputy Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Sports, Anayo Nnebe.

The sports ministry, the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Directors of Federations and the Technical Committee of the House of Representatives would be represented in the panel.

A statement by Dalung’s media aide, Nneka Anibeze, listed the eleven federations as aquatics, boxing, cycling, golf, hockey, kick boxing, kung fu, rowing, sailing and yachting, scrabble, shooting and rugby.

Dalung appealed to the House Committee to be served copies of the petitions before summoning him to appear for defence.
