Jigawa Government says it had concluded plans for
the successful hosting of its 2013 Economic Summit to be chaired by former
President Olusegun Obasanjo.
The Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Babandi said in Dutse that the summit
was part of efforts to attract investment to the state.
Babandi said that the summit would hold from May 29
to May 31 and that a former member of the British Parliament, Lord Boateng,
would declare the summit open, while Obasanjo would chair the event and deliver
the keynote address.
According to him, a sizable number of investors from
within and outside the country are expected to attend the summit.
He said that all the necessary arrangement had been
concluded to ensure a hitch-free summit.
“The event is going to come up on May 29; it is
going to be an investors’ round table, whereby a lot of potential investors are
invited to discuss the possibility of bringing capital investment to Jigawa
State.
Babandi said that the summit was part of activities
line-up to mark the 2013 Democracy Day in the state.
