PDP screens 57 aspirants, insists on going ahead

Former Governor of Benue State and the Chairman of Peoples Democratic party National Convention Screening Committee, Gabriel Suswam, has said the committee will screen 57 aspirants who bought forms to contest for positions in the party.

Suswam made the information known in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on Monday at the commencement of the screening preparatory for the party’s National Convention holding on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the News Agency of Nigeria learnt that the committee has screened aspirants for the post of national chairman, including a former Deputy National Chairman of PDP, Chief Bode George.

The others screened were a former Minister of Education, Prof. Tunde Adeniran, and a former Chairman of DAAR Communications Plc, Chief Raymond Dokpesi.

Other members of the Screening Committee are a former Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa; former Imo State Governor, Achike Udenwa; former Adamawa State Governor, Boni Haruna; and a former Deputy President of the Senate, Ibrahim Mantu.

Others are Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe and a former Minister of Women Affairs, Josephine Anenih, as well as the Rivers Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Chief Emmanuel Aguma, who is the Secretary.

Meanwhile, the party has vowed to hold its National Convention slated for Wednesday in Port Harcourt in spite of an interim order stopping the exercise.


Prince Dayo Adeyeye, a member of PDP National Caretaker Committee in charge of Publicity, gave this indication on Monday.
