Pipelines and Products Marketing Company Limited in Warri,
Delta State, has concluded major repairs on the 30 damaged points along the
Escravos–Warri (system 2C) crude-line.
The PPMC said prior to the repairs, the route was used as
locations for illegal refineries by pipeline vandals in Kokologbene community
close to Bennet Island in Warri South-West Local Government of the state.
The Escravos-Warri (system 2C) serves as one of the major
truck lines that supplies crude to the Warri and Kaduna refineries.
The PPMC in a statement said a disruption in its supplies was
capable of grounding operations at the refineries and also capable of causing a
severe damage to the environment.
The statement said the system 2C crude line had in recent
times recorded the highest number of vandalised cases which contributed to the
low capacity production at the Warri and Kaduna refineries.
It said the development in the past, had invariably led to an
acute shortage in the supply of petroleum products to the public.
